What is Hyperopia?
Hyperopia is a refractive error, it’s mostly hereditary, but it can also be a normal part of aging.
Symptoms of Farsighted Vision
There are various symptoms patients will experience when they have a farsighted vision, the most common and noticeable symptoms are:
- Blurriness or a problem reading small print, especially in dim light.
- Blurry vision while driving.
If you’ve experienced some of the symptoms mentioned above, and you’re ready to get a professional diagnosis, schedule a complimentary consultation with Dr. Alexandra Chebil, M.D.. She can quickly evaluate and identify farsightedness with a few tests generally included with a regular eye exam.
Hyperopia Treatment Options
Contact Lenses and Eyeglasses
Hyperopia can be corrected with certain eyeglasses or contact lenses, but they do not cure the irregularly curved cornea that’s causing the blurry vision; this correction can only be done with surgery. Patients also find it inconvenient to wear and maintain contact lenses and eyeglasses on a daily basis.
Laser Vision Correction for Farsightedness (PRK and Lasik Surgery for Farsightedness)
Lasik surgery to correct hyperopia is a great option; it may decrease or completely eliminate the need for eyeglasses and/or contact lenses. Our Orange County Lasik patients have experienced excellent results after their Lasik surgery for farsightedness.
